Déjà vu Again
By Brent Regan
In the fable about the Dog and his Reflection the fabled dog found a tasty bone in the forest and is carrying it back home to enjoy. His journey takes him over a footbridge across a small stream. While crossing he glances down and sees an image of another dog with an even bigger bone reflecting in the water. He immediately opens his jaws wide and lunges to snatch this new prize but he only succeeds in losing his bone to the watery abyss. The dog’s greed made things worse.
The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) is our official Republican Party and operates under Republican State Party Rules. The KCRCC is widely recognized as the best Republican Central Committee in the state. One national campaign advisor commented that if all Republican Central Committees were the same caliber as the KCRCC, Republicans would never lose an election. Dr. Sebastian Gorka said that the KCRCC Lincoln Day Dinner was the best he had attended, and he has attended a lot of them.
The mission of the KCRCC is to enhance freedom and prosperity by promoting fiscally and socially conservative candidates who will implement the Idaho Republican Party Platform as policy. KCRCC recommended candidates occupy every partisan office in the county and over 80 KCRCC recommended candidates sit in city government, school boards, highway districts, water districts, fire districts and other “nonpartisan” positions.
The success the KCRCC enjoys is not due to party brand, rules or procedures. The success is because of the hard work and dedication of the KCRCC committee members. The KCRCC isn’t a committee with leaders; it is a committee OF leaders who volunteer their time as a service to Republican voters. These talented individuals make the hard work look easy, and that can be a problem because others assume it is easy.
Groups like the North Idaho “Republicans” (NIR) envy the success of the KCRCC and see it as the bone they want.
There is nothing stopping the NIR from providing services to the voters. They have raised money, placed ads, endorsed candidates and they could do more, but they don’t. Instead of trying to outperform the KCRCC, they work to snatch the KCRCC.
Every two years is the Primary Election when every KCRCC Precinct Committeeman stands for election in their precincts, and for this May primary election, once again the NIR is out to stop the Republican Party from providing services to the voters as we have for the last decade. NIR wants control of the Republican Party, but to gain that control they must replace the very members that make the Republican Party what it is.
Remember that the NIR leaders have supported democrats like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Walt Minnick. They caucused for Nikki Haley and against Trump. They endorsed candidates that refused to remove materials harmful to minors from the children’s sections of our libraries and support the radical trans agenda. NIR frequently endorses the same candidates as the democrats. NIR doesn’t want the solid conservative candidates you elected so they need to stop the KCRCC from vetting candidates, making recommendations, publishing the Voter Guide, holding Town Halls and generally promoting conservative values. If NIR’s precinct committeeman candidates win 38 of the 74 precincts it will put Kootenai County firmly on the path to turn blue.
The KCRCC has no storefront or other hard assets. The KCRCC is just people who work every day to protect the values we cherish. Take away the people and all you have is a name with nobody committed to keeping Kootenai County the place you love.
The choice will be yours. Choose wisely or NIR’s greed will make things worse.
It’s just common sense.
