Trump Opens Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz
By George Rasley
Accompanied by Florida’s Governor Ron Desantis, state Attorney General James Uthmeier, Congressman Byron Donalds, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, President Donald Trump opened the new illegal alien detention facility comedians have dubbed the Alligator Alcatraz.
In a wide-ranging media availability after touring the facility the President went scorched earth on the Democrats, noting that in New York, illegal aliens were placed in luxury hotels. In Florida, criminal illegal aliens will be placed in Alligator Alcatraz. The days of putting dangerous illegal aliens before Americans are over, said the President.
During the discussion, Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” passed the Senate. The House Reconciliation bill promises to build a border wall, add 10,000 ICE officers, detention beds, historic funding for Customs and Border Patrol and will tax money those who are in the country illegally send out of the U.S.
As our friend Eric Daugherty reported for Florida’s Voice:
Alligator Alcatraz has, in just under 2 weeks – Aluminum frame structure rated for 110MPH winds, Cat 2 hurricane – 158,000 SQ FT of housing – Fully redundant power supply with backup generators – 3 times-a-day hot meals – Staff village with capacity of 1,000 – 24/7 medical facility – Pharmacy – Air conditioning – Indoor, outdoor rec yards – Legal and clergy support services – Laundry – Over 200 security cameras – 28,000 feet of barbed wire – 400+ security personnel
During the tour of the facility independent journalist Benny Johnson asked President Trump what message he has for Gavin Newsom from inside Alligator Alcatraz.
Trump said Newsom should fly out and see what real leadership looks like:
“The first thing you should do is come here and learn something because they don’t do this.”
“They don’t know. They wouldn’t know where to begin and if they did it, it would cost them a hundred times more.”
“His state is a disaster and he doesn’t do this. They have the original Alcatraz. So you guys can approve him being able to set one of these up over there.”
“I’m sure the secretary would be happy to do that and provide. My sense is he’s probably not going to bite on that.”
Mr. Johnson further reported:
I don’t think anyone realizes how impressive Alligator Alcatraz is. The State of Florida built this 3,000-bed federal prison in eight days. The director tells me it could have been done in 72 hours were it not for some regulatory hold-ups. Now all the state needs is DOJ approval to deputize the National Guard as Deportation judges and this will become the most efficient deportation center in American history.
Trump praised the facility as “beautiful, so secure,” with alligators and law enforcement portraying a hardline image.
After touring the facility, Trump said that some of the most “menacing migrants” will be held there. “Some of the most vicious people on the planet,” Trump said. “We’re surrounded by miles of treacherous swampland, and the only way out is really deportation.”
DeSantis authorized the construction of the illegal immigrant detention center on a sprawling property in the Everglades’ swamplands of Miami–Dade County under an emergency order.
The property is a former airport that has been outfitted with sturdy tent structures to house the thousands of illegal immigrants. The detention center earned its name due to its location in the heart of the Everglades, which is home to thousands of alligators and pythons.
