“Throwing Gold Bars Off the Titanic”: EPA Throwing Tax Dollars to Climate Groups in Wake of Trump’s Win

Even with the ouster of founder James O’Keefe, Project Veritas is still around and catching bureaucrats eager to talk about their nefarious schemes with taxpayer money. On December 3, the organization released an undercover interview with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employee Brent Efron. According to Efron, the EPA is doling out taxpayer funds to nongovernmental organizations before President Donald Trump can take office.

“Throwing Gold Bars Off the Edge”

Efron, a special advisor implementing Biden’s climate agenda, spoke about his role in giving out over $100 billion in grants before Trump takes office. The money is coming from Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which Efron described as “Biden’s climate law.”

“Now it’s how to get the money out as fast as possible before they [the Trump administration] come in.… It’s like we’re on the Titanic and we’re throwing gold bars off the edge,” Efron said.

A potential Kamala Harris administration apparently had plans for the climate movement. Efron and others in the EPA still want to see those plans happen any way they can. He told Project Veritas:

The thing that we haven’t funded yet are [sic] the local nonprofit program that was going to be an inter-Kamala Harris administration program…. So now we’re getting it [funding] out as quick as possible. It’s like two billion at this point, we’ve got most of it out — like ninety percent.

In September, Trump told the Economic Club of New York:

To further defeat inflation, my plan will terminate the Green New Deal, which I call the Green New Scam.

Shielding Federal Funds From Trump

Dumping the money is an attempt to keep the climate movement from losing momentum during a Trump administration. Efron believes Trump will be unsympathetic to climate politics, and plans to keep releasing funds until told to stop:

It’s until the Trump people come in and tell us we can no longer give out money. That’s at the very earliest the 20th [of January, 2025]. But it’s probably a little bit after because they have to get in the building and tell people what to do.

Efron sees his efforts to give away taxpayer money as an “insurance” policy against Trump. As he did in his first administration, Trump has said he will remove the United States from the Paris climate agreement. He is expected to cast a blind eye toward the wants of the climate movement’s agenda. Efron feels the climate NGOs can shield the federal funds from Trump’s administration.

“We gave them [the nonprofits] the money because … it was an insurance policy against Trump winning. Because they aren’t [a government agency], they’re safer from Republicans taking the money away.”

What if Efron’s nightmare comes true and the Trump team removes him from the climate equation as far as government is concerned? He’s convinced that he can find employment with one of the NGOs he has assisted with money:

Over the last year we’ve given out $50 billion dollars for climate things … so to go work for one of these places would be really cool.

Utah Senator Mike Lee, a Republican, commented:

The U.S. government is actively working to undermine the American people. We’ve empowered Washington to the point that it’s become dangerous and destructive. It’s too big, too expensive, and too powerful. We must return to constitutional government.

Many have suggested that the president’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) quickly investigate the EPA’s haphazard release of tax dollars. After all, it doesn’t seem very efficient to shovel taxpayer dollars into “green” NGOs simply because a new administration is set to take over.

The alphabet agencies — including the EPA — have taken on outsized role in the U.S. government. In this case, an employee for the EPA is bragging about giving taxpayer money to NGOs, effectively undermining an incoming president’s administration.

It would be poetic justice if another alphabet agency, such as Trump’s new DOGE, could plug holes in the leaky bureaucracy and end the practice of giving away tax dollars to green grifters.
