Johnson receives his orders from Chuck Schumer
Mike Johnson and the Budget betrayal
By John McCardell
It’s only been a few months since Mike Johnson (R-LA) was elected Speaker of the House, but it’s been one betrayal after another.
Now, Johnson has capitulated to the Democrats on budget funding limits, in what the House Freedom Caucus accurately called a “total failure.”
The deal – which also includes the BILLIONS in foreign waste Congress didn’t pass before Christmas – will spend nearly $1.7 trillion.
As Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer noted, “Not a nickel was cut” and the Democrats’ goal was “precisely the number we reached.”
Incredibly, the proposed budget is so big that if Congress simply passed a short-term funding patch – to extend the Pelosi-Schumer budget from 2022 – it would spend less.
Mike Johnson’s “Republican” budget will be even bigger than Nancy Pelosi’s!
Johnson also came right out and said he “always supported” shoveling more piles of taxpayer dollars into the Ukrainian furnace and he only held up the aid money to “send a message” to Joe Biden.
The only message Mike Johnson has sent to Joe Biden is this: Mike Johnson will backpedal on his promises, he will backstab his colleagues, and he will capitulate to Big Spending statists in D.C.
So who is to say where he really stands on Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and giving the FBI more power to spy on law-abiding Americans?
We have every reason to suspect he is a total fraud on any issue.
What will be next?
Remember: before the Christmas break, Johnson floated a “queen of the hill” scheme, where one bill to rein in Sec. 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act would compete with another to expand the unconstitutional mass surveillance scheme, and whichever got the most votes would be sent to the Senate?
We need to stay ahead of this issue and pound them NOW – and every step of the way.
Remember: Section 702 was not only used to spy on the private records of law-abiding Americans MILLIONS of times. . .
It was used to vilify ordinary American political activists, including grassroots pro-life advocates and concerned parents getting involved with their school boards.
And it was used to sabotage the Trump administration before they even took office.
We have every reason to expect the Deep State will be waging all-out war on the American people and our elections throughout this year.
Tell your lawmakers to end Section 702 abuses NOW.
If Congress doesn’t hear from you and me now, there won’t be any reform at all . . . or worse, they might even pass the House Intelligence Committee’s atrocious bill to EXPAND the Deep State’s surveillance power.
P.S. Speaker Mike Johnson has proven he is at best a flake. Or worse, he’s intentionally sabotaging any hope of reforms.
That’s why we must take NO chances on FISA reform and DEMAND our lawmakers support meaningful reform.
