Civilization versus Barbarism
The outpouring of support for Hamas in the United States is breathtaking, because it lays bare the virulent antisemitism that has been festering below the surface for a very long time. Further, the backlash against it raises the broader question of whether pro-terrorist speech is protected by the First Amendment. Recently, some Wall Street firms have responded by withdrawing job offers to college students who signed letters condemning Israel, which in turn has brought condemnation from people who insist that in a free society people should not be punished for saying things others don’t like.
While this may sound like a perfectly reasonable argument, it becomes a lot less reasonable when one faces up to the reality that we no longer live in a free society. The free-society argument went out the window with the sham January 6 arrests and trials, the targeting of evangelical Christians, the labeling of irate parents as terrorists, and the political persecution of the leading Republican presidential candidate, to name just a handful of the police-state tactics we’ve witnessed over the past few years.
Rules are nice and all that, so long as everyone abides by them, but leftist lunatics do not recognize rules, laws, or norms of any kind. They long ago figured out that they can simply ignore laws — even Supreme Court rulings — without having to worry about consequences. They acknowledge the Constitution and selected laws only when they happen to benefit their cause.
While anti-Israel, anti-Jewish protests around the globe have gained national attention, the fact is that they are just one part of a much bigger problem, the determination of leftist totalitarians to destroy Western civilization. This is not exclusively an American problem; it’s a worldwide phenomenon. It’s no longer country against country, but a literal clash of civilizations. In simple terms, the civilized world is at war with the uncivilized world.
As to the Israel-Hamas issue, there are international rules of war that all countries are supposed to follow. At a minimum, they prohibit murder, torture, and hostage-taking. When Hamas psychopaths attacked Israel on October 7, they violated every one of these rules many times over, yet the uncivilized world insists that Israel’s response should be “proportional.”
Which raises the question, what, exactly, is a proportional response? Does it mean Israel should rape, torture, murder, and take civilians as hostages just as Hamas did? If so, it’s a problem, because Israel has never engaged in such barbaric behavior. Of course, what the pro-Hamas protestors really mean by “proportional response” is that Israel should not respond at all.
Millions of people worldwide are demanding that Israel “stop the genocide,” which is remarkable given that it’s the Jews who have been the targets of genocide, not only on October 7 but throughout history. A country cannot be guilty of genocide if there is no genocide, any more than a person can be guilty of insurrection if there is no insurrection. It’s all about the art of projection, a tool used not only by Democrats, but by uncivilized people throughout history.
Projection is the ultimate kind of lie, and no one does it better than the totalitarian left. Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a Hamas founder who has lived in Israel since 2007, has for years been warning that Hamas and its radical-left supporters are masters at projection lies. “Stop Israeli genocide” is an example of a projection lie that has been cleverly spread not just by Hamas, but by uncivilized people worldwide.
What’s stunning is that these lies are often spread by privileged suburban kids, many of whom are Jewish. They have no idea that Israel has never engaged in genocide. They have no idea that the Jews have occupied the Holy Land for more than 4,000 years and that Islam did not come into existence until the year 610. They have no idea that Jews are the pioneers of monotheism and a belief in a personal God, which Islam and Christianity now share. They have no idea that 2 million Arabs live in Israel and enjoy the same rights as Jews.
Yousef also makes an interesting point when he says Palestinians who are obsessed with killing Jews are not born bad people. Rather, they have fallen prey to a collective consciousness that is pure evil. When you are taught from birth that the most noble thing you can do is kill other human beings, you are likely to be trapped in a faulty belief system for life. When you see videos of young children playacting the killing of Jews, they are being indoctrinated to commit future atrocities.
In one form or another, this barbaric collective consciousness has permeated the entire world, and Jews are not the only targets. Today, everything about the modern world that is noble is a target and must be destroyed. Jews are the prime target today, but, make no mistake about it, the barbarians are coming for everything and everybody in the civilized world. Contrary to what they would like you to believe, they don’t want land. What they want is death and destruction, and the time is growing short for the civilized world. Complacency kills.
