RESOLUTION TO PROTECT CITIZENS’ PROPERTY RIGHTS

RESOLUTION TO PROTECT CITIZENS’ PROPERTY RIGHTS

By Tom DeWeese

This document stopped a recent town planning meeting dead in its tracks! The “Planners’ Resolution to Protect Property Rights” has been tested and is changing the face of the fight to save property rights. Planners are asked to sign an agreement notifying citizens of potential infringements to their property rights if their plan is implemented. Individuals are offered a chance to opt out. One official was caught like a “deer in headlights” when presented with the document. Formerly non-committal community members felt there was no reason not to sign. This single document places planners and government agencies on the defensive.
